BIOGRAPHY & INTRODUCTION
Kathryn graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2016 with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences and returned in 2017 to obtain her Juris Doctor. During her legal studies, Kathryn was an editor with the Ottawa Law Review, and was elected English Submissions Manager for her final year. Her work as research assistant focused on the role of the Charter in health policy and criminal law. Prior to her graduation, Kathryn also completed an internship with a respected defence firm.
After graduating law school, Kathryn articled with one of Toronto’s leading criminal defence firms and practiced there as an associate prior to joining Bytensky Shikhman Barristers. She has represented clients before the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Review Board, and the Parole Board of Canada. Kathryn has acted as second chair on serious charges, including first degree murder. She is a member of the Toronto Lawyer’s Association and the Criminal Lawyers’ Association.
