BIOGRAPHY & INTRODUCTION

Safiya Dossa is an associate at Bytensky Shikhman Barristers. Before law school, she worked on Parliament Hill as a legislative analyst, advising Senators on the Cannabis Act and sharpening the statutory‑drafting instincts she now brings to courtroom advocacy. Safiya has a Canadian and American law degree from the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. She graduated law school with Honours and was called to the Bar in 2022.

Safiya’s practice concentrates on sexual‑offences, domestic‑assault allegations, and youth justice matters. She brings sensitivity and expertise to these complex areas of law, understanding the serious consequences these charges can have on clients’ lives.

While at Windsor Law, Safiya ran the Innocence Project and served as the research assistant to the Dean of Law. Safiya is driven by the conviction that justice prevails only when the state is held to its full burden; she brings tireless rigour and fearless advocacy to every defence.
